Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream is a 1990 non-fiction book written by H. G. Bissinger.

The book itself chronicles the storied Permian Panthers of Odessa Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. While the book may or may not include a number of items slamming the team, the release date was certainly unlucky: while it was enjoying its greatest publicity, the team was enduring a scandal involving illegal off-season practices.

A film based on the book, Friday Night Lights, was released in 2004, and a TV series followed the film in 2006, ending in 2011.
