Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream is a 1990 non-fiction book written by H. G. Bissinger.
The book itself chronicles the storied Permian Panthers of Odessa Permian High School in Odessa, Texas . While the book may or may not include a number of items slamming the team, the release date was certainly unlucky: while it was enjoying its greatest publicity, the team was enduring a scandal involving illegal off-season practices.
A film based on the book, Friday Night Lights , was released in 2004, and a TV series followed the film in 2006, ending in 2011.
