Basic Trope: A Car that would logically not be Rear Wheel Drive is portrayed doing something only a RWD Car could do.

  • Straight: An ordinary Family Hatchback does a rear-wheel burnout or drifts around a corner.
  • Exaggerated: An MPV does a rear-wheel burnout or drifts around a corner.
  • Justified:
    • The work takes place in a period where most or all cars were RWD.
    • The cast are a team of Drifters, and have converted their favourite cars.
  • Inverted: Every Car Is Front Wheel Drive.
  • Subverted: An ordinary Family Hatchback comes up to a corner, and corners like a FWD car would.
  • Double Subverted: ...And then it drifts around the next corner.
  • Parodied: There is an entire drifting competition where all the entrants are ersatz Hatchbacks, MPVs and SUVs, and they pull off ridiculously over the top drifts.
  • Deconstructed: Rear wheel drive cars have taken over the market, and almost no front wheel drive cars exist. This means that mechanics are poorly skilled at fixing them, further reinforcing front wheel drive's perceived inferiority.
  • Reconstructed: The heroes use the inherent assumption that all cars are rear wheel drive to their advantage by driving a front wheel drive car, which behaves in unpredictable ways compared to the pursuing cars. They also repair it properly themselves.
  • Zig Zagged: Some cars have their correct drivetrains, some are RWD when they shouldn't be, and other are FWD or 4WD when they shouldn't be.
  • Averted: All the cars featured have their correct drivetrains, and a mixture of FWD, RWD and 4WD cars are shown.
  • Enforced:
    • It's a Video Game which features drifting or some other RWD-exclusive stunt as a core mechanic, and they don't want any of the cars to miss out on it.
    • Or Everybody Owns A BMW
  • Lampshaded: "Okay, that random Ford Focus really shouldn't be able to do that!"
  • Invoked: Everybody buys a RWD car.
  • Defied: Everybody buys a FWD/4WD car.

  • Conversed: "Those cars shouldn't be able to do that! This show is so unrealistic!"
