Daniel Dwight Tosh is an American stand-up comedian and television host. He currently hosts the Comedy Central video clip show, Tosh.0. He has had three specials: Daniel Tosh: True Stories I Made Up, Completely Serious and Happy Thoughts.

Daniel Tosh provides examples of the following tropes:
  • Ambiguously Gay
  • Butt Monkey: Women
  • Dead Baby Comedy
  • Don't Explain the Joke: Averted with particularly obtuse jokes and references, which he explains in detail for greater comic effect.
  • Drugs Are Bad: Averted; he argues that steroids will only make sports more entertaining.
  • Have You Told Anyone Else?: On "True Stories I Made Up", he says one of his greatest fears is that he will be the first to hear that one of his friends won the lottery.
  • Gag Penis: According to him, people made fun of his "fat dick" in school.
  • Hollywood Tourette's: Inverted in that he wonders if there's anyone out there with "polite Tourette's".
  • Jerkass: He's not afraid to say what he thinks. Especially about women.
  • Lampshade Hanging: "Are we down to six people? Great!"
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: As stated above, his onstage persona is a complete Jerkass who's racist, sexist, conceited, selfish, and a general douche. This of course is all part of the act, especially obvious when you read an interview with him, where he comes off as rather humble and generally good-hearted, and has even been referred to by an interviewer as being a bit of a sweetheart.
  • Overly Long Gag: "I'm aware I can end the joke at the good part. I choose not to."
  • Refuge in Audacity: He spoofs this after making an extremely sexist joke by justifying it with, "I can say that, I have my own TV show," or "I can say that, I'm black" after making a homophobic remark.
  • Ripped from the Headlines: Many of his jokes combine popular celebrity fiascoes of the moment and semi-obscure sports references.
  • Rule of Three: Subverted with the inverted Hollywood Tourette's example; he gives only two examples before declaring he's moving on.
  • Shout-Out: During his special, he ends one of his jokes by saying "Hoooot Pocket". He says another comedian wrote the end of the joke.
    • "If you knock on my grandparents' door and you find them lying on the floor, the only thing you are legally allowed to do is a Finishing Move. Hadouken! That would be mine."
  • Take That, Audience!

"By the way, if you ever have a job where you have to give speeches in front of people, pepper in the phrase 'suck it.' Very empowering. Just be like 'As you can see from our powerpoint presentation suck it...' And your clients would be like, 'Did he say suck it? I like this guy... he's a go-getter.'"

  • Too Soon: Averted; nothing is sacred to him.
