Debuting in Bloody Roar 1

Yugo Ogami (the Wolf)

The main protagonist of the game, Yugo was the son of a mercenary who was killed during a conspiracy revolving around Tylon. He is the leader of a resistance group of zoanthropes against Tylon called W.O.C. (World of Coexistence), a group dedicated to lessening the racial stirs between humans and zoanthropes and oppose Tylon, and was a former boxer. He adopts Kenji as his younger brother. He's upbeat, brave, and has heroic tendencies, but can be stubborn, hot-headed, and a bit slow.

Alice Tsukagami/Nonomura (the Rabbit)

Kidnapped as a small child by Tylon, she was converted into a zoanthrope and later rescued before she could be brainwashed. When she returned to Tylon to fight against them and rescue the other hostages, she had rescued Uriko, and out of Mitsuko's gratitude, was adopted as part of the family. She thus works as a nurse and an advocate of W.O.C. who tries to keep Yugo in line and steps in when something dangerous happens. She is kindhearted and cares deeply for others, and works unconditionally in treating their wounds, although as gentle as she is, and as much as she dislikes violence, her patience can only go so far at times for Yugo's life-risking antics.

Alan Gado (the Lion)

A legendary mercenary, his journey to seek out his former war buddy Yuji had led him to Tylon's morbid experiments and focused on taking them down. In doing so, he had encountered a young orphaned girl he named Shina, and adopted her as his daughter. Later on in the war against Tylon, he grows saddened on the ongoing racism between humans and zoanthropes and works toward becoming a leader in the movement towards uniting the two races. He appears intimidating and imposing, but is really understanding and kind-hearted, especially to his daughter, whom he worries for a lot—especially during those times she bites off more than she can chew (and prompts him to come rescue her).

Jin/Shin Long (the Tiger)

Torn by the death of his mother and sister and neglected entirely by his father, Long ran away from home and trained himself, leading to Tylon recognizing his incredible fighting skill and powerful beast form to enlist him as among their top assassins. At one point, however, Long had cut himself loose from Tylon suddenly and went on his own way, leading him to be branded as a traitor and hunted by his former employer. After successfully cutting all ties from Tylon, he hid himself in seclusion to meditate while living a hermit life. Uriko had eventually found him, and through his agreement to train her, he eventually also came around and returned to the public. He had thus began to focus on how to repent for all the murders and deeds he commited while he was an assassin, as well as make up for the guilt he has for killing his sister while in his beast form. While under Tylon's orders, he is considered cold and calculating, but after he dropped his ties to them, he has shown himself to be much calmer and more soft-spoken, displaying an intelligent but calculating nature. After murdering his sister Lanfa, he resents his beast side and considers his blood cursed. He was used by Tylon to bring forth his clone Shenlong.

Ryuzo Kato/Bakuryu I (the Mole)

One of Tylon's top assassins, all he wanted was to become the most powerful zoanthrope in the whole world, and thus he allowed Tylon to perform countless experiments on him to increase his abilities. Although he proves to have incredible strength, this does not bode well for him, as the experiments have left his body unstable, making him die an incredibly painful and unnatural death when his body melts and liquifies into pus. The remains of his tissue were kept by remnants of Tylon and later used to create Kohryu. Kenji had also been brainwashed to become an incarnation of sorts to Bakuryu, even sharing his name.

Hans 'Fox' Taubermann (the Fox)

A lost child found on the streets, he developed a disturbing love and lust for blood and gruesome killing methods, eventually leading Tylon to adopt him. As he grew up, he became one of Tylon's top assassins, and among the most ruthless and vicious. He is a very vain man whom holds high praise and interest in his own beauty and sexiness. However, he considers his beast form to be incredibly ugly. Due to censorship issues, Fox could also be female.

  • She's a Man In Japan - He's a really feminine man in Japan and a really masculine woman everywhere else.
    • The Manual for the North American release listed him as a Male.
  • Self-Made Orphan - In his ending, he encounters his mother, who is ashamed of herself for not taking the chance to give Fox a better life. He doesn't hesitate to gleefully rip her to bloody shreds.
  • The Fighting Narcissist - He prides himself as the most beautiful fighter. This gets to the point that he hates morphing into his Beast Form, simply because he sees it as ugly (despite the fox being one of the more attractive beast forms in the first game).
  • Viewer Gender Confusion - Depending on what side of the world you're on, he's either a really feminine man or she's a really masculine woman.
  • Villainous Crossdresser

Mitsuko Nonomura (the Boar)

A zoanthrope who lived in secret among the humans with her daughter Uriko. When Uriko had been kidnapped, Mitsuko relentlessly pursued Tylon to rescue her. While doing so, Alice had assisted in rescuing Uriko as well, where out of gratitude Mitsuko had adopted Alice as her own daughter. Later on, she was jumped by a group of men from the Zoanthrope Liberation Front and kidnapped, eventually being rescued by both Uriko and Alice. She is a very hardy woman who is no-nonsense, serious, and strict, but is shown to have incredibly strong love and care for her daughters.

Greg Humain (the Gorilla)

A huge, lively, artistic man who loves the performing arts and thus is motivated to start his own circus. His circus, however, eventually teeters over bankruptcy, which prompts Greg to frantically find something to bring his circus back up to its former glory. While searching, he witnesses Yugo's transformation into a wolf and relentlessly seeks him out in hopes he can convince Yugo to become an attraction for his zoanthrope powers, unaware he himself is also a zoanthrope. When he finally confronts Yugo, he finally realizes this fact, and, with Yugo's advice, uses himself as his own main attraction to bring back business to his circus.

Uriko Nonomura (the Half Beast)

Uriko was one among numerous children who were kidnapped by Tylon for experimentation, particularly due to her zoanthrope genes inherited from her mother. She was branwashed and transformed into the ultimate beast, known as Prototype Uranus, but she was later defeated and rescued. When her mother, Mitsuko, was kidnapped, she attempted to transform into the form she took in the past, but the experimentation had left her beast form in an unstable state, transforming her into a were-cat instead. In desperation, she sought out Long and became his pupil in learning how to become strong enough to save her mother, eventually gaining help to do so from Yugo and the others. She later joins up with Yugo and Alice's duties against Tylon out of boredom of the mundane life she has otherwise. She is childish and bubbly and prone to making a few random outbursts, and she is also very clumsy.

  • Adult Child - Often seen as this in the fandom, since even as she got older since Primal Fury onwards, she has [apparently] become noticeably more random, clueless, and ditzy. It doesn't help that her voice seems to get higher and she's becoming (for the lack of a better word) more and more childish.

  • Creepy Child - In her debut.
  • Dummied Out / Game Shark - Interestingly, she is a fully functional, playable character as Prototype Uranus in the first game with the use of a gameshark.
  • Emotionless Girl in her debut, a cross between a Genki Girl and a Tyke Bomb in all her appearances afterwards.
  • Half-Human Hybrid - As a half-beast, she's only partially a cat. Semi-subverted in 4, since while she remains the same otherwise, she is then referred to by game terminology as a full-fledged cat, supposedly to avert confusion with Nagi's beast form.
  • Lethal Joke Character - When Uriko's moves are done correctly, that bubbly cat girl that trips over her own feet will buzzsaw through your health in record time with elaborate combos and attack strings.
  • Little Miss Badass - ...At times.
  • Not Blood Siblings - To Alice.
  • Power Floats - In her debut as Prototype Uranus.
  • SNK Boss - In her debut.


Debuting in Bloody Roar 2

Kenji Ogami/Bakuryu II (the Mole)

He was a child who grew up in an isolated village that worshipped an Earth God and remained almost entirely isolated from the urban cities. He had lost his parents at a young age and was adopted by Bakuryu to be trained with the intention of becoming his successor. As he grew up, he worked with Bakuryu and even earned his title while working as an assassin alongside his mentor for Tylon until its fall. When the original Bakuryu had died, the boy had been left in an amnesiac, near-vegetative state trapped in a ruined building, where Yugo found him, adopted him, and eventually named him "Kenji". While he grew up with Yugo, he was eventually kidnapped by Tylon and brainwashed to pick up his former life as Bakuryu once more until Yugo rescued him and the brotherly love they shared had made him revert to his more peaceful life as Kenji. Since then, he uses his skills to assist Yugo, while he also has occasional run-ins with Kohryu over mastery of Bakuryu's techniques. As an assassin, he is a cold, uncaring, vicious fighter who shared no emotions. While he still seems hesitant to express much emotions as Kenji, he is also more toned down as caring, wise, shy, and curious.

Steven 'Stun' Goldberg (the Insect)

Originally one of Tylon's top researchers, he was a friend and rival to Busuzima and believed that his research would be used to save lives. However, when he learned of the true intentions behind Tylon, he was captured and used as Busuzima's experiment to create a man-made zoanthrope. This experiment had made him a unique case of becoming an insect-based beast, but it was also due to this that caused his body to be so unstable that he was mutated beyond recognition, and he was plagued with constant searing pain unless given a special stabilizer only Busuzima could supply. Since then, he has sought out a way to try to gain back his humanity. He also has a bitter hatred for both Busuzima and the whole of Tylon. In Primal Fury, Stun had died when his body had been almost entirely destroyed by the aftereffects of the experiments, but Tylon had used the remains of his undamaged cells to create a clone of him (which did not go well). In 4, however, Stun came back to life.

  • Blessed with Suck - He may have an awesome tank of a beast form, but with constant never-ending pain, a horribly mutated body, and an inevitable fate of being slowly and surely destroyed from the inside out...
  • Came Back Wrong - his clone in Primal Fury and Extreme.
  • Eldritch Abomination - His human form constantly degrades itself to a point he must nearly use his entire body up, due to the instability of his insect form.
  • One-Man Army - He can take out a full army of security guards (obviously).
  • Retcon - In the beginning of Primal Fury and Extreme, his body deteriorated beyond repair, to a point he had to be cloned from his remains instead of revived. Even then, the clone had 30% of Stun's body and brain cells, and thus can't remember a thing Stun could, can't function, and was only focused on destroying everything. By 4, the (very much alive and well) real Stun appeared, complete with a fairly normal and audible voice (previous games had his voice inhumanely distorted due to his vocal cords also being deteriorated). No effort would be made to explain why this is so or what happened to the clone from Primal Fury and Extreme.

  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds - his clone.

Jane/Jannu/Jeanne 'Shina/Marvel' Gado (the Leopard)

She was orphaned during the war and found by Gado, where she was adopted as his own and named "Shina". Influenced by Gado's role as a powerful mercenary, she had demonstrated her incredible capabilities in battle by single-handedly taking out an entire platoon's worth when she was 13, earning her the nickname from fellow mercenaries as "Fighting Marvel". Gado had not wanted her to follow in his footsteps and tried to distance himself from her when called for duty to give her a chance at a normal life, but she grew up to become a mercenary instead to fight alongside him. She fights against the ZLF, a group who lives and breathes of vicious terroism, but when her own group had sent her out to find the Tabula with less than honorable intents on how to use the power it held, she disobeyed orders and went AWOL. She temporarily lived a quiet life in an isolated house lined with old land mines, but was reinstated in the military again by 4. She is a tomboy and can be very agressive and stubborn in her actions, especially in regards to leaping into the front lines while ignoring warnings of its dangers, although deep down (as rarely as she shows it), she can go soft and be gentle.

  • Amazonian Beauty - Being a mercenary since she was a child, she is most likely the strongest of the ladies physically (and also noticably buffer than the other females, averting Muscles Are Meaningless). She also has a few... distracting costumes. Did we mention that she's French?
  • Bare Your Midriff
  • Dark-Skinned Blond - Since Primal Fury/Extreme onwards (her skin varied from tan to light beforehand).
  • Girliness Upgrade - In her debut, she is a shining example of a tomboy who only had a few hints (as obvious as they are) that she's a girl. By Primal Fury, she's taken a huge leap toward being more feminine overall, down to painting her nails and mentioning she wears dresses.
  • Hair of Gold
  • Hired Guns - In her debut, she was a mercenary, but afterwards she went AWOL until 4 (oddly enough).
  • Jumped At the Call - She could have had a more quiet, ordinary life like Gado wanted her to, but she chose to become a mercenary and blow stuff up with her bare hands instead.
  • Lawful Stupid - Completely averted when she could obey her superiors and hand over the most powerful artifact in the world (the Tabula) on a silver platter, but she instead destroyed the thing despite threats of a court martial and retired.
  • Not Quite Dead - Jane was said to have been killed along with Cronos's mother in his background. Not so.
  • One-Man Army - She took down an entire platoon when she was 13, just because she was looking for Gado. Her nickname as Marvel isn't there for nothing.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname - Depending on the region, she is either known by the name Gado gave her (Shina) or her nickname the other mercenaries gave her (Marvel).
  • Red Baron - As a child, Shina was known as "Fighting Marvel" due to single-handedly obliterating a platoon of soldiers. (In the Japanese releases, she's exclusively addressed as such.)
  • Samus Is a Girl - Before Primal Fury, had it not been for her (uncommonly mentioned) name as Jane/Jannu and her obvious breasts, Marvel could easily pass herself as a man.
  • Shorttank
  • Sugar and Ice Personality
  • Stripperific - She enjoys fighting in a bra an awful lot.
  • Tomboyish Name - Marvel.

Jenny Burtory (the Bat)

A top model of Europe by day and an international spy with many ties by night, Jenny's life is a complete mystery. Be it because the rumors that she's a vampire from Hungary are true or that she was a test subject of an experiment, she has stopped aging and is capable of accelerated healing. She is an expert in her line of work and thus is sought out by many clients. She is close friends of both Gado and Stun, and so she helped Gado gather information on the ZLF while dropping hints for Stun toward how he could perhaps regain his humanity. She is very confident in herself and carries a great air of sophistication in her, but is hard to discuss with, as she'll make sure to see things her way and not through anyone else's. Although snobbish and strict in fulfilling her orders and contracts, deep down she has no hesitation to fabricate things here and there to do the right thing rather than the directed thing.

  • Hair of Gold - She is a bit of a seductress, but still a good-natured woman at heart.
  • Half-Human Hybrid - She's classed as a bat, but her appearance is only partially so.
  • Kick Chick
  • Lady in Red - Ok, so it's more like hot pink, but close enough. Although her alternative costume is red.
  • Meaningful Name - At least, if the rumors of her being a vampire are to be believed: when read in Japanese, her surname, Burtory, reads the same as Báthory. Incidentally, there is a French singer named Jenifer Bartoli, though she is probably too young for the character to be based on her.
  • Ms. Fanservice
  • Panty Shot - Nearly her entire wardrobe. Some of her attacks can reveal a G-String.
  • She's Got Legs - Her legs are very long and almost completely uncovered. She puts them to good use.
  • Stripperific - Her costumes. When in beast form, she also gets even more skimpy.
  • Series Mascot - Although Yugo is actually the mascot series-wise, Jenny recently became a mascot as far as being featured in the front cover for further games since her debut until Extreme (which had Yugo) and 4 (which focused on Nagi and had the other new characters).
  • Will They or Won't They? - There's a few hints here and there between her and Gado.

Hajime Busuzima (the Chameleon)

Busuzima was a curious boy who had a morbid fascination with dissecting insects he caught to see their inner workings, growing frustrated whenever they stopped moving. He was raised by his grandmother, who pointed out that the insects stopped moving because they were dead, then later "stopped moving" herself. Afterwards, he grew up lonely and obsessed with the thought of immortality, and so joined Tylon as among their top researchers where he met and befriended Goldberg. While employed by Tylon, he conducted unorthodox experiments on himself to transform into a zoanthope, and also gleefully performed inhumane experiments on other subjects when ordered to. This rubbed Goldberg the wrong way when he realized the true nature of these experiments; Busuzima, enraged by Goldberg's attempted interference, experimented on him as well, causing Goldberg's transformation into Stun. He was also the one responsible for the creation of Shenlong, as well as the one who brainwashed Kenji to make him resume his former life as Bakuryu. He is also the founder of the ZLF, with the intent of making Shenlong his front man, until the group was torn apart and Shenlong disobeyed him in favor of having his own life. He's ...eccentric... to say the least, and he's also incredibly self-obsessed and devious. Although a genius and a dangerous scientist in his own right, he's also crude and alienates everyone around him.

  • Butt Monkey - After the shock of how morbid he is wore off, nobody takes him seriously anymore.
  • Fan Disservice - Some of his moves, both idle and attacking. He can even hump the sky. Or sit on your face... and fart.
  • Last-Name Basis
  • Mad Scientist - ...And good Lord, is that an understatement.
    • Everything he does is For Science!! That, and getting the rest of the cast to recognize his genius and take him seriously for once. Yeah... not gonna happen.

Shenlong (the Tiger)

A clone of Long made by Busuzima, he was made to become the leader of the ZLF, striking fear into the hearts of anyone who opposed him. He ruled with an iron fist and was considered the most dangerous and deadliest of all zoanthropes. However, when he looked back at his non-existant past, he questioned his identity as his own self and eventually dropped out of the group and from Busuzima's control in favor of finding his own life. To make himself his own person, he changed his appearance drastically from Long's and lived a more darker, urban life as a bouncer and a familiar face around bars. Due to having no past, he cares little for it or his ultimate fate, living a life where he kills people he hates, drinks with people he likes, and believes others to be fools for believing that there's a tomorrow waiting for them in the morning. Although cold, merciless, and bitter, he eventually adopts a much milder side, particularly showing faint hints of care for others and passion with the ones he drinks with.


Debuting in Bloody Roar 3/Extreme

Kohryu (Development No. β-0389) (the Iron Mole)

When the original Bakuryu died, the remains of his liquified tissue were preserved by Tylon, even long after the company disbanded. YUN CHI Manufacturing Inc., a former department of Tylon, still remained active, and used the sample toward Project Iron Mole to create Kohryu, one of their trial robots. The trial went terribly, as while they programmed it with Bakuryu's battle data and infused the tissue to match his strength, Kohryu simply went out of their control and lashed out at everything it saw. It has no personality other than a cold, relentless pursuit against any zoanthrope it detects.

Xion (the Unborn)

A mysterious man, he was granted the power to be the sole user of the Tabula of a Thousand Beasts, a powerful relic sealed to prevent calamity from breaking free and gathering into one sole person. To fully harness its power, he had to defeat all of the zoanthropes marked with the XGC sign until he was the last left standing, and attempted to use this power to free the unborns from a distant dimension to be released into the world. This plan failed, and when he recovered, he realised he had been consumed and controlled by a dark presence and sought out a way to redeem himself. However, when the unborn returned and he recalled a night he had attacked Nagi under the unborn's influence for getting in his way, he was possessed again by the unborn to seek out and kill Gaia's dragon, Ryoho. When under the unborn's influence, he is cold, vicious, and will kill with little to no provocation whatever gets in his way. Outside of this, however, he is a much more quiet, confused man who broods.

Uranus (the Chimera)

An incredibly unknown person, she was the result of an experiment Tylon created called Project Chimera, designed to be the most powerful zoanthrope in the world and created during their experimentation with Uriko as her prototype. While Uriko eventually lost her ability to shift to her prototype form at will, Uranus retained the form indefinitely in addition to transforming into a true chimera or powering up her human form further. She is an agressive massochist who takes pleasure in fighting and overall destruction, although it may be her way of coping and covering for her personality deep down as a very confused and tortured soul who is looking for a meaning for her life.


Debuting in Bloody Roar Primal Fury

Golan "Ganesha" Draphan (the Elephant)

A trusted bodyguard to the zoanthrope kingdom, he is tasked as Cronos's right-hand man and thus shows a great deal of care for the prince. However, his opinions of the prince are conflicted with his opinions of his phoenix form, as he bore witness to Cronos's attack against his home village while in phoenix form, setting up his decision to defeat Cronos in the tournament to find a way to destroy the phoenix. Due to his role as Cronos's personal bodyguard, and his own prejudice of lesser folk and humans, he can come off as snotty and pompous to everyone, and only seems friendly to Cronos.

Cronos Orma (the Penguin/Phoenix)

Prince of the kingdom of zoanthropes, Cronos dislikes the constant feuds that occur between the humans and zoanthropes and sought out a way to unite the two races. He grew suspicious toward his father Orion's experiments, and equally so to the fact that nobody would tell him the truth regarding the deaths of his mother and his best friend Jane. His phoenix form and his rare ability to have two beast forms were of particularly high interest in this research, and so he himself also became an experiment, including wearing clothes equipped with sensors. Although he is kind, polite, and dedicated to protecting his people, he is also naive and chokeheld to following Orion despite knowing full well that it is a bad idea.

  • A God Am I - sort of.
  • An Ice Person - His penguin form utilizes ice-type moves.
  • Anti-Hero
  • Camp Gay / Blind Idiot Translation - Due to bad wording from the main site that made his interest in playing mundane sport games under the guise of a commoner with other villagers sound like he secretly plays with guys, a good number of times he's portrayed in fanon tends to put him under this light. His fighting style doesn't help matters any.
  • Dance Battler: Not only can Cronos kick your ass with no effort, but he does it while doing the tango!
  • Dark-Skinned Blond
  • Driven to Suicide - In his ending, when he confronts his father on the truth of the experiments, he had no hesitation to kill himself to avoid continuing the projects, but Orion stopped him.
  • Dummied Out - He would have been in Bloody Roar 4, but in addition to complications between his differing beast forms and the game's new interface, a brief interview gave a passing mention that he "wasn't dark enough" to fit into the game's theme.
  • Enemy Within - Somewhat implied between him and his phoenix form.
  • Everything's Better with Penguins - combined with Lethal Joke Character
  • Playing with Fire - His phoenix form.
  • Self-Made Orphan - It's implied that he wiped out his entire home village and killed his mother, among others, while in his phoenix form (as he was unable to control it). However, it's either played straight or subverted, depending on if Uranus and his mother are the same person.
  • SNK Boss
  • Super-Powered Evil Side - Cronos and his penguin form are rather passive, calm, and not entirely threatening. His phoenix form, however, is a pyromanic monster hell-bent on killing everything in a glorious blaze.
  • The Scrappy - Many portrayals of him in fanfiction especially often involve bashing him to no end and making him a gay, whiny, emo snobbish brat who often is killed in various different gruesome ways, even though he really didn't do anything in the series to be considered a scrappy, and he was never really shown as wangst-ridden, spoiled, or gay either (bar the above mistranslation).

Debuting in Bloody Roar 4

Nagi Kirishima (the Spurious)

During the time Xion had been possessed by the unborn and trying to kill off other zoanthropes possessing the XGC mark, Nagi had passed by him, only to be mortally wounded trying to stop him. At this time, Gaia had copied the unborn and sealed the duplicate inside Nagi, allowing her to survive the attack. This power had otherwise remained dormant afterwards during the time Yugo and the others had disarmed Xion and freed him from the unborn's grasp. A year later, when Xion was possessed again and sought out Gaia's dragon, Ryoho, the spurious inside Nagi awakened again in response, prompting her to seek out Xion to find out why she had this power. Eventually, she herself was also possessed by the unborn, and depending on the ending, she either succeeded in the task Gaia intended for her (killing the unborn) or was used by the unborn to kill Gaia's dragon. She is playful, friendly, and good-hearted, but her spurious form is more vicious and lusts over blood.

  • Half-Human Hybrid - She's an incomplete version of an unborn. Incidentally, it's because of this fact that Uriko was renamed as a full-fledged "cat" to avoid confusion, despite the fact that Nagi was explicitly called a Spurious and not a Half-Beast.
  • Mary_Sue In the fourth game she's a one women Spotlight-Stealing Squad. With disproportionate attention given to her. Her animal form is isn't even an animal at all and just full on Fanservice. The game mentions that she was also mentioned to be in a relationship with Yugo and has a part of Gaia in her. Her design is a blatant ripoff of Kasumi. Except a lawsuit from Koei Tecmo if she is included in a future reboot or re-release of the games.
  • Meaningful Name - the term "Spurious" refers to something fake, or otherwise used to class something inherently different, but technically alike to something. Although referred to more as "incomplete" than outright "fake", the latter is poked at by Xion.
  • Ms. Fanservice
  • Panty Shot - Her skirts are so short, it's inevitable. At least one cutscene blatantly focuses on it.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair - Her hair changes from brown to red in her spurious form.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning - When controlled by the unborn.
  • Red Headed Heroine - In her spurious form.

Reiji (the Crow)

A member of a flock of crows who was a part of the Yatagarasu, the clan had passed on the ability to transform, but also sealed this ability until a member is judged as an adult. Reiji, who was an heir to one of the four clan's leaders, had his seal broken prematurely during the XGC mark incident, and with it he used his powers to tear up the clan out of his destructive nature and bitterness against them. He fled from the temple of his clans and sought out powerful zoanthropes to challenge and kill, all the while avoiding the remaining Yatagarasu members pursuing him. He's very cocky, cruel, brash, and dangerous, and looks down at everyone as being weaker than him.

Mana (the Ninetails)

A young girl who was raised in a temple that believed in a religion that combined Buddhism and Shinto religions together. She was part of a group of ninetails zoanthropes who, alongside the Yatagarasu, had served as guardians and seal masters for Gaia's dragon. Her older sister had performed the last sealing of the dragon when it awoke after the Unborn attacked the temple, leading to her death. Mana then took over her sister's duties and joined Ryoho when he recovered (without any memory of the incident), ensuring that the dragon remains asleep and the seal intact while Ryoho, in turn, protects her from those who try to catch her for her powers as a Ninetails. When she felt the seal start to come loose, she tried to seek out other, more powerful zoanthropes who can challenge the dragon when she breaks the seal, and then weaken it enough for her to apply a new seal. Due to being young, her Ninetails form is an adolescent who resembles a normal fox with only one tail. She remains mature and true to her duties, but she's still a little girl at heart; she is naive, enjoys playing, and likes to eat cake.

Ryoho (the Dragon)

He belonged to a clan that combined Buddhism and Shinto religion together. This clan had protected and guarded his dragon form, and were in charge of sealing the dragon whenever it comes first. Ryoho is the vessel of the dragon, and although he is aware of its presence, he rarely has memory of what happens whenever he takes on the dragon's form. During one incident that the dragon was released due to sensing the Unborn entering its temple, Ryoho had woken up to find a young girl named Mana from a clan of Ninetails. He grew close to the girl and protected her while she secretly did the same for him, and struggles whenever he senses the unborn or his seal coming loose. He's very serious and intimidating, but he is quite compassionate, gentle (particularly to Mana), and strong-willed in battle. He respects his opponents as well, challenging them as a human before unleashing the dragon on them.


Debuting in Bloody Roar: The Fang

Fang (the Wolf)

The main protagonist of the manga, Fang detects the presence of other zoanthropes as well as a dark being who would be resurrected when four talismans would come together. He seeks out to prevent this union and befriends a zoanthrope girl he met named Machiro. He has the ability to deliver punches capable of breaking a zoanthrope's transformation and reverting them to human form. He shows traits more common in traditional lycanthropy in that he can sometimes expose fangs and claws. He, like Yugo, is also brave and daring, but a bit slow at times while showing a great deal of care for Machiro.

  • Expy - Word of God confirmed this is an intended case between him and Yugo.
  • Guest Fighter - He was originally from the Japan-only manga and in the Japan version of Primal Fury before appearing in all localizations of Extreme.

Machiro (the rabbit)

A young school girl who hides her abilities as a zoanthrope. When she meets Fang, she helps him in the fight against other vagrant zoanthropes who were causing trouble in the area. She has a gentle personality and worries a lot for Fang's sake.
