Battle for Dream Island/Characters

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Characters from Battle for Dream Island include:

Four

"Well, I'm not the one who doesn't know their value."

Although Four seems to be calm most of the time, he does get angry in "Lick Your Way to Freedom," "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset", "Fortunate Ben", and "Four Goes Too Far"; this anger is growing more frequent as the series goes on. Four was well-mannered in "X Finds Out His Value", however, and didn't screech. But in BFB, he has a mysterious, sadistic personality where he uses his powers to harm the contestants just for the fun of it.

In "Fortunate Ben", Four was shown to want a sense of dominance in the show and will get furious if talked back to or if he has tasks done for him. When provoked, Four would show no mercy and would even do things such as "dissemble" close friends out of anger, even lacking remorse in the process. In "Four Goes Too Far", Four is very intolerant to criticism as he mistaken Nickel's response to criticism and threatens to zap him, A Better Name Than That's plan being the only thing stopping the attack.

In "Enter the Exit", however, in direct contrast to the earlier bully he was shown as, Four seems to be a lot calmer, friendlier, and more humble than he was before he was multiplied by zero, possibly after how the contestants decided to revive him, despite all the pain he has brought them. He can still be violent, but noticeably less often. He had not screeched anyone for three episodes after his return, (breaking this streak in "Return of the Rocket Ship") adding onto how friendly he became, but will still not hesitate to zap those who bother him.

He also declared in "Return of the Rocket Ship" that he could not allow X to find his treasure because Four must be X's only treasure, signifying that he wants to be important to X.

"The Escape from Four" shows Four's personality in more depth as well as his possible motivations: he seems to be childish and acts as a control freak because he wants everyone to stay with him forever, explaining his narcissism and cruelty when hosting the show. Four tends to throw tantrums when things don't go his way and hates being abandoned (possibly due to him losing his playthings) to the point where he begins to cry and refuses to let X console him since he thinks that he will abandon him too.

X

"Oh, I don't know. I just don't know what I am, what my value is."

X seems to be much more friendly than his partner Four and is usually seen to be quite happy and friendly towards almost every contestant. However, X also seems to be quite soft, as he cries after Four stated that nobody noticed his disappearance (despite Cloudy asking about X), and became frightened after Four screeched at him and when Snowball threatened him in "This Episode Is About Basketball". He can also be considered a bit ignorant, such as thanking the ground for "catching" Beep after they fell from their plane, or even asking to get screeched by Four. He also shows to get very nervous under pressure. As he hosts in "This Episode Is About Basketball", he's very hesitant while talking and tends to mess up things, such as reading the votes backward when Free Food was up for elimination. X is overall quite docile by nature and remains loyal to Four, even after the times that Four mistreated him.

However in "A Taste of Space", he shows off a more irritable, somewhat bratty side to his character as he begins subtracting points from the teams for petty and minor reasons.

Tropes exhibited by X include:

Blocky

"You know, I've actually been thinking of doing more pranks, but well, Recovery Centers... MY INSPIRATION! They're all gone."

In Battle for Dream Island, Blocky is shown to be a reckless prankster, bully, sadist, and a murderer. He constantly picks on and kills various people whenever given the chance, like kicking Woody, throwing Ice Cube off a ledge, and extinguishing Firey repeatedly. These attacks are often seen as pranks on his end, but they usually are at the expense of other people's well-being. Blocky hardly shows remorse for his actions and is rarely social to people outside of his friend group.

In Battle for BFDI, Blocky's personality changes. He's a lot less violent towards others, killing people less often. He can still be pushed, like when Golf Ball tries to manage him, causing Blocky to break her in half. He's also more social and empathetic, standing up for Grassy when Golf Ball mistreated him, or worrying when Four was gonna come back. Blocky still wishes he could return to pranks, but he acknowledges the improbability of the prospect and shows restraint.

However, in "X Marks the Spot", he's reverted back to his original personality, kicking Woody, as well as scaring Ruby with a pair of sharp "teeth" scissors.

Tropes exhibited by Blocky include:

Bubble

"YOYLECAKE!"

Bubble is usually nice, carefree, and happy, but when she is afraid of something, (ex. Pencil telling Lightning to shock someone), she will try and prevent it from happening, which occasionally has consequences.

When pushed enough, Bubble isn't afraid of speaking her mind to other characters, like with Leafy when she constantly decides to be friends only to change her mind or to stand up to Flower in "Return of the Hang Glider". Despite this, she is often known to be a pushover towards Pencil and Match, and often hangs around them, despite their actions.

Bubble is very forgiving, as she instantly became friends with Leafy in "Get in the Van" when she returned to Bubble after she had bought Dream Island, although she still seems hesitant to forgive Match for bossing her in "Questions Answered". She seems to be sad ever since she got demoted and Lightning zapped people. Bubble is also shown to have paranoia, as seen in "What Do You Think of Roleplay?" when she thought Match's elimination was caused by her not forgiving Match, which as a result pushed her to hastily forgive every member on iance.

Tropes exhibited by Bubble include:
  • Speech Impediment: Bubble has an awkward way of talking, as she replaces some vowels with "oi" sounds in words (e.g. "Leafy" becomes "Loify", "Lightning" becomes "Loightning", etc.), giving her a unique accent.
  • They Killed Kenny: She is very fragile, you could pop her! Thank goodness there's a Bubble Recovery Center.

Firey

"I'm doing nothing. What, do you have a reason for me to do something else?"

In BFDI, Firey spent a good amount of time arguing and slapping Coiny. Firey can also be quite forgetful; e.g. him not realizing that lava can kill Leafy in Insectophobe's Nightmare 2, seemingly forgetting who Leafy is in "Get in the Van" and events afterward (though this is proven to be false). Though, by the end of Season 1, he seems to have developed more of a genuine understanding of his surroundings and interactions with the other characters, such as acknowledging his unintentional cruelty to Leafy and revealing his thoughts on the conflicts around him. He also displays signs of genuine sincerity, such as when he reveals his true feelings to Leafy about her.

However, from BFDIA onwards, Firey completely ignores Leafy and has a blank expression whenever in close proximity. The reason for this is explained in "The Four is Lava" when he tells Leafy that he didn't want to be associated with her because Leafy stole Dream Island. This paints him as somewhat selfish and uncaring, given how he's willing to lie about not knowing Leafy to save face. But doing this also seems logical on his end, given how Leafy stole Dream Island and committed other misdeeds, so if Firey were to "forget" Leafy, people wouldn't think poorly of him, and it could provide him a benefit in the competition.

Tropes exhibited by Firey include:

Leafy

"What about YOU guys?! Do you wanna be friends? I bet you do, 'cause you're awesome!"

Leafy is shown to be kind-hearted, helping people such as Ice Cube and Woody. She tends to be very nice and helpful, liking almost everyone and being one of the calmest players. Leafy, however, does become mean and cynical throughout the series, having on and off arguments with Bubble, jumping to conclusions, and tending to become upset when someone doesn't accept her kindness or even her gifts.

After "Return of the Hang Glider", she became hated by all the other veteran contestants except Firey, who forgot her (though later this was revealed to be a ruse to save his reputation). This may have scarred her in some way. She would have joined Battle for Dream Island Again with 606 votes, but due to being in Yoyleland, she couldn't join. Yet she makes occasional appearances.

In IDFB, she is still acting the same way, as evidenced by her attempt to kill either Fries or Coiny with a knife.

In BFB, the veteran contestants appear to have forgiven Leafy and she is friends with all of them. Leafy returns to her behavior in season one, as a very friendly and even more ecstatic person, usually very joyful and wanting to make friends with everybody. However, when being disagreed with, Leafy will often tend to become very cynical and defensive (possibly due to the events of the earlier seasons) and will usually see her point-of-view as the superior side.

She will very quickly jump to irrational conclusions, not taking others' viewpoints into consideration and concluding even the smallest of situations on her own behalf. Her conclusions are often negative towards someone and cause her to overreact, as seen in "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", where Eggy wins a game of Tic-Tac-Toe with Leafy after 72 games. Leafy thinks that she is the impostor solely because of that and immediately accuses her of being the fake.

Leafy, at times, despite claiming to want to help people, is also shown to be quite fickle and seems to have a slight dictatorial outlook as a leader, often assigning jobs to and using her teammates rather than helping them and having a loyalty chart that displays how loyal everyone is to her. Leafy's overall two-faced nature is most likely what caused her to become hated by not only her teammates but also some of the viewers as well.

While being an overall nice person, she can change her outlook and tone in the blink of an eye and can get angry at even the smallest protest against her will.
