His best friend, Rachel, sought the door to the Tower in order to escape the dark world they lived in. Baam simply got dragged along for the ride. But inside the Tower, everyone must make their own way to the top, and Baam quickly learns that the Tower's inhabitants have a low opinion of "Irregulars" - those who enter the Tower without invitation. Faced with the prospect of a new test on every floor and many, many, MANY intrigues and colliding stories and wills in this alien, magical realm, his determination to reunite with Rachel is the only thing keeping him going.

 

 

Chapter 78 served as The End of the first series (Season 1), Slave.In.Utero went on a break, releasing a postscript for everything so far as Chapter 00, numbering which got restarted for Season 2, and so the would be chapter 81, really is Chapter 01 (Season 2).

* [[Aerith and Bob]]: There are fantasy names like Rak and Anak, a person is named after his birth date, some characters have Korean, Chinese or Japanese names while there yet others with names like Serena and Rachel. It all seems weird, but with the Tower being a multicultural focal point, the opposite wouldn't make more sense.

** There is a character that's a sharp-beaked bipedal mantis-shrimp called Kukaku Rakukakuka.

* [[Almighty Janitor]]: Yu Han Sung, based on ability alone, is a High Ranker. He, however, just takes a executive subordinates job in the second floor. {{spoiler|Reason being he has most control and power paired with little interference from the top.}}

* [[Always Someone Better]]: Expressly. Each of the Rankers has already climbed to the top of the Tower, and each of '''them''' has [[Rank Inflation|a rank based on how they did during their climb.]] Except, possibly, for Phantaminum, who holds rank #1.

* [[Amazon Brigade]]: Zahard's Princesses.

* [[Applied Phlebotinum]]: Shinsoo, a [[Functional Magic|magical substance]] replacing air inside the Tower that can be controlled at will. It's density rises with the number of floors and it can become as thick as water. One character, instructing others on its use, even explicitly states that it can do absolutely anything.

** [[Badass Boast]]: Rak delivers and delivers.

** [[Badass Normal]]: Subverted. Though it appears initially that Baam is heading towards this way, it's effectively confirmed now that he is not normal. Hatsu for being able to fight off Anak and not being immediately taken out by Quant. And Ship Leesoo, but being Ship Leesoo in a [[World of Badass]], one is ultimately a [[Butt Monkey]] and [[Action Survivor]].

** [[World of Badass]]: The Tower, especially it's inner section.

* [[Bag of Holding]]: Koon's seemingly harmless bag. Not only can it clone knives and swords and store it all in the bag, {{spoiler|it can also hold three people inside}}, it is a useful shield.

* [[Blinding Bangs]]: Baam in the 2nd season.

* [[Blood Knight]]: Rak, though he isn't itching for the thrill of the fight, but the thrill of the hunt (of the strong which he can fight).

* [[Boss in Mook Clothing]]: The Bull, even the people of the test admit that he is several levels above what would be normal in his floor.

* [[Bragging Rights Reward]]: Supposedly, the thing you want most is at the top of the tower, but we've already met several characters who have made it to the top and now do various jobs within the tower. At least one of them doesn't seem all that fulfilled.

* [[Cute Shotaro Boy]]: Baam. Though that's not all that's to him.

* [[Darkskinned Blonde]]: Ho.

* [[Deadly Decadent Court]]: The 10 Great Families are saturated with intrigue.

* [[Death Glare]]: Several characters, including Baam and Anak.

* [[Dirty Coward]]: The only thing Parakewl is a paragon of.

* [[Downer Ending]]: The ending of season one.

* [[Empathic Weapon]]: Again, {{spoiler|Black March, which has a female spirit and has taken a shine to Baam and probably the rest of the 13 Month series}}.

* [[Everythings Better With Bunnies]]: Subverted. {{spoiler|Headon}} is decidedly creepy and is either sadistic or merely enjoys fulfilling his duties in as literal a manner as possible.

* [[Eyes of Gold]]: Baam, Rachel, Ja, Arkraptor (with silver-grey skin, for added creepiness).

* Fanservice: Interesting case of mainly the male cast being sexy with their clothes off. The only sexy shots you get to see of the ladies are Yuri's [[Zettai Ryouiki]], Yeon's shoulders and Androssi in shorts and t-shirts. The guys don't only flash their abs, they ''sparkle!''

* [[Fantastic Racism]]: Rak calls everybody except Anak turtles.

* [[Fish Out of Water]]: Baam.

* [[Flashback Nightmare]]: Ho experiences a short nightmare in which a monster murders a bunch of children while he's putting on a Shinsoo trick show.

* [[Functional Magic]]: Shinsoo.

* [[Genius Loci]]: The Tower. It is not Headon that chooses the Regulars, he merely sees if they are worthy of proceeding.

** Except that Rachel is very close and an [[Ill Girl]]. {{spoiler|Except that even though they met up, they must still climb the Tower together, because Rachel will not stop midway}}.

* [[Glowing Eyes of Doom]]: Yuri Zahard and Quant. It comes from the Shinsoo flowing through the eyes, giving something like night vision.

* [[Green Lantern Ring]]: The pocket, a multifunctional artifact that among other things works as a timer and a translator. Oh, and has an invisible mode and is a contract maker, allowing the use of [[Functional Magic|Shinsoo]].

** Ship Leesoo tries this against the Bull. It was a she. The effect is as you might have imagined.

* [[Guile Hero]] / [[Manipulative Bastard]]: Koon. {{spoiler|He purposely directed A Team to their defeat just to give Baam and the other people in his friend list in B Team a chance to pass. Because it is still unknown what his true motive is, he can be the former or the latter.}}

* [[Lamarck Was Right]]: The daughters of princesses who have been empowered by Zahard inherit the enhanced powers he granted them, which is why they're forbidden to have children (or relationships with men, period.)
