The sound is a simple, gutteral ''"groooonk!"'', surprisingly easy to imitate. Only mating calls that sound ''identical'' to a Centaurian's own will fail to have an effect on it (this is a defense mechanism to prevent two Centaurians that share a close genetic relationship, e.g. siblings, from mating with each other).
