Its funny. Tonight's the first time in a long while that I'm not nervous about going to bed. I'm actually looking forward to that weird music and seeing Pelly. No. I'm counting on seeing him. But as soon as I start to drift off, the shadows pull loose from the corners of my room, and I jerk awake.

The Blue Girl is a novel written by Charles De Lint released on October 25, 2004. it follows the character of Imogene along with her Shrinking Violet best friend, a Ghost Boy Stalker With a Crush who is trying to show Imogene his fairy friends. Unfortunately this draws the attention of Eldritch Abominations.

Nothing to do with La Blue Girl.

The series provides examples of the following tropes:

Abuse Is Okay When Its Female On Male: Justified. Imogene whacks the crap out of Adrian when he gains a body on Halloween. She's understandably pissed that he brought her to the attention of soul eating Eldritch Abominations.
Alpha Bitch
Action Girl: Imogene. Maxie has a moment or too.
Badass Normal: Imogene again. Apparently she was a part of a gang.
Blue and Orange Morality: Guess.
Body Horror: YMMV but Adrian's body after he fell from the sky could count as this.
Control Freak: Maxine's Mom, Maxine herself has shades of this.
Cute Ghost Boy
Deadpan Snarker: Imogene, Maxine has her moments. Adrian, the goblins/hobs/Brownies. Most characters have some snark to them.
Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Imogene, Technically.
Eldritch Abominations
Hands-Off Parenting: Imogene's mother. She likes to be a friend rather than a parent, and was a Hippie and a stoner.
Homeschooled Kids: Imogene and her Brother when on the commune.
Imaginary Friend: Pelly
Invisible to Normals: The Hobs/Goblins, until Adrian interferes.
Love Makes You Dumb: Adrian.
My Beloved Smother: Maxine's mother is this in spades.
No Periods Period: Averted, Maxine talks about her first period.
Perky Goth: Imogene
Race Against the Clock: Halloween is the Deadline for finding a way to Save Imogene from the Eldritch Abominations.
Reality Warper: The angel... medium... Person.
Somebody Else's Problem: Averted Imogene has no love for the Alpha Bitch but she still defends her from her abusive boyfriend near the climax of the book.
Shrinking Violet: Maxine
