Man of Steel, scheduled for release in 2013, will be a Re Boot of the Superman movie franchise. The film is directed by Zack Snyder, produced by Christopher Nolan, and written by the team of Nolan and David S. Goyer. This team's goal is to begin a Trilogy which will (hopefully) do for Superman what The Dark Knight Saga did for Batman.

The cast includes Henry Cavill (Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Michael Shannon (General Zod), Antje Traue (Zod's accomplice Faora), Russell Crowe (Jor-El), and Ayelet Zorer (Lara Lor-Van).

Tropes:

• Big Bad: Surprisingly not Lex Luthor, who doesn't appear to have even been cast. General Zod fills this role instead.
• Continuity Reboot
• Crystal Spires and Togas: The plan is to avert this for Krypton, unlike Richard Donner's adaptation of Superman. Instead, Krypton will look more like the technological city as seen in more recent Superman comics (and the animated series).
• Doomed Hometown: Krypton. No surprise there.
• Fake America-raised Alien: Henry Cavill is the first British actor to play Superman.
• Race Lift: Laurence Fishburne as the first non-white Perry White in any version of Superman. Most likely a Type 8, given the gravitas with which Fishburne has played many of his roles.
