(added {{cleanup}}, added disclaimer/apology (only the second page on the entire wiki that's needed one!), added {{context}} to unexplained tropes and terms that needed it, commented out the links to ATT maintenance and policy pages that were on the trope list, did other minor copyedits)
(clarify the contractual issue - but yes, this page does need work)

** Wikia's sneaky fine print. One of the many disclaimers on [[Star Trek|Memory Alpha]]'s main page says "Community content is available under CC-BY-NC unless otherwise noted." but the clickable link points not to the original "CC NonCommercial-Attribution" licence but to a fandom.com page in which Wikia contracts themselves out of the "non-commercial" terms of the Creative Commons licence.
** The backroom deals by which they have the one individual who controls the domain name for an existing wiki sell it, agree to delete data, agree not to speak out publicly and agree not to relaunch a competing wiki also fit the trope. Too many communities have found that they've lost editorial control of their project by seeing Wikia's name turn up on a 'whois' query.

Wikia, also known as Fandom and FANDOM powered by Wikia, is a wiki hosting service founded in late 2004 by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley. It is notable for hosting many fanwikis, such as WoWWiki and Wookieepedia. However, many wikis have left the site due to discontent over policies such as advertising and the (at the time) new "Oasis" skin, implemented against the majority of the community's will.

Tropes used in Fandom (website) include:
Disclaimer/Apology: Many of these tropes are written from an anti-Wikia perspective. Please remember that this wiki tries to keep multiple points of view, and other perspectives are both welcome and requested.
