If they were slightly smaller or bigger, atoms, stars, planets and people simply wouldn’t exist! Of course, you could try to question it but if those concepts are actually sentient beings then reminding them why are they actually doing the job of maintaining the universe may not be a good idea. However they are either: 1)too alien to question their existence 2)they may actually know what is going on behind the walls of reality 3)they know about the absurdity of their existence but they keep doing it because someone has to or reality will fall apart taking everyone if they do otherwise, its like the job of taking the trash every day or cleaning septic sewers, its not pretty but someone has to do it.
