Trivia about The Bitter End includes:

Fanon: "Rage Disorder" became a popular excuse/explanation for Akane's behavior in fics after the release of The Bitter End, unfortunately without the research that Bateman did to realistically portray it. And character-bashing factions in the fandom took this explanation and ran with it as though it were canon. ("Akane's insane and thus unsuitable for Ranma!") And of course, some authors (often the same ones) played it for comedy as well:

"I DO NOT HAVE RAGE DISORDER," raged Akane.

Flame War: Oh, did it inspire them throughout the fandom.
Recursive Fanfiction: Spawned a number of responses, rebuttals and parodies, including no few Fix Fics and other attempts to graft a better ending -- or at least the possibility for one -- onto it. See the (partial) list on the main page.
Seinfeld Is Unfunny: With its deconstruction (and reconstruction) of the Fanon "psychobitch Akane" characterization, The Bitter End turned it into one of the biggest cliches in Ranma fanfiction, to the point that most people roll their eyes and groan when they see a story going in that direction.
Shipping Wars: Bateman was firmly on the "Ukyo" side of the often volatile Ranma shipping wars of the late 1990s, and it very much colors his portrayal of her in this fic.
