• Christopher Sabat
  • Christopher Sabat of the FUNimation dub gets this a lot from their dub of One Piece with Zoro, who sounds a lot like Piccolo.
  • Speaking of DBZ, he also voices Vegeta and Yamcha.
  • Hilariously, in the manga crossover oneshot Cross Epoch, guess who Piccolo is teamed up with? Yep. Zoro.
  • He also does the voice of The Conqueror from The Last Remnant, who... also sounds a lot like Piccolo.
  • Easy enough to believe he did Shin Chan's narrator (which sounded a bit like Major Armstrong in episode 3), but then there's Yanro...
  • And then Garland in Dissidia Final Fantasy. Sounds like a more civilized Piccolo, but only a leetle bit more civilized.

  • He's Ayame Sohma in Fruits Basket, and you can hear it when he goes low. Other than that, it's NOT his usual role!
  • Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho, with the most distinctive voice ever...but also the ridiculously sexily-voiced Raizen, from the same anime. This troper (who hadn't seen DBZ at the time) nearly died when she heard the connections!
  • His voice as Giroro in Keroro Gunso is basically his Piccolo voice. It's even lampshaded a few times.

• Katey Sagal
  • Peg Bundy has provided the voices for Leela and Spinelli's Mom on Recess, among others.

• Chiwa Saito
  • This happens with Chiwa Saito in Samurai 7 with Komachi and in Pani Poni Dash! with Rebecca Miyamoto.
  • That voice however is similar with Rie Kugimiya's small-girl voice, so one may mistake that Rie Kugimiya's character is voiced by Chiwa Saito, and vice versa.

• Daisuke Sakaguchi
  • Daisuke Sakaguchi, who also played Jacuzzi Splot and Usso Ewin.
  • He also does the voice of Shinpachi Shimura in Gintama and even LOOKS LIKE HIM.

• Takahiro Sakurai
  • Heine Rammsteiner from the DOGS Bullets and Carnage OVA. Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. Let's see -- both are light-haired Badass Abnormal anti-social and psychologically damaged Super Soldiers with Dark and Troubled Pasts who wear sleeveless dark longcoats. Hmmm....
  • This troper's brain kind of broke when she finally realized why the Medicine Seller sounded so familiar: He was Kanda. Much-calmer-than-usual Kanda, but she was still struck by the resemblance.

• Nozomu Sasaki
  • Nozomu Sasaki. His best known roles? Eriol Hiiragizawa, Johan Liebert, and YUSUKE URAMESHI! This troper's overactive imagination will render Monster and Yu Yu Hakusho... difficult for a while.
  • Just think about hearing Yusuke's voice and then listening to Shin Mouri. I still look funny at my dvds.

  • Fans will be pleased to note that there is one similarity between Austria-san and Link, the Hero of Twilight; they both share the same seiyuu, the one and only Akira Sasanuma.

  • In the English dub of Witchblade, Rihoko is Sugar! Waffo!!!

• Randy Savage
  • OHHH YEAHH former WWE and WCW champion and Slim Jim spokesman. He's played Sasquatch in The Xs, Space Ghost's granddad in Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Master Sergeant Emily Dickinson Jones in Duck Dodgers, Rasslor in Dial M For Monkey, and Bonesaw the wrestler in the first Spider-Man film.

• Miyuki Sawashiro
  • This troper freaked out when he realized his favorite Reyvateil had the same distinct Tsundere voice as Houjo Reika and the characters even have the same name. Also, quite notable are Shinku (who is also very Tsundere) as well as Velvet, who has the same voice, but much less Tsun.
  • If this troper remembers correctly, she also voiced X-Chara Diamond. The normal Diamond, on the other hand, was voiced by Kanae Ito, the same voice actress as Amu-- Oh great, Talking to Himself again?!
  • How could this troper forget Cammy from Street Fighter IV?! Also, after hearing Carl's Japanese voice in Blaz Blue, you could definitely hear Sawashiro Miyuki in his voice, despite the character being a Cute Shotaro Boy.
  • It was very difficult for This Troper not to laugh when she heard Milanor's voice coming out of Kanbaru Suruga's mouth. They have the exact same pitch and occasionally the same speech patterns. One is an idiot thief. The other is a card-carrying yandere lesbian/BL fangirl/lolicon/possible troll.
  • It seems that Cal Devens let her hair down a bit and became a succubus in the process.
  • Alternatively, she's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it ice queen who is hellbent on torturing her former best friend after she thought that she had been accidentally cremated in a coffin

• Raphael Sbarge
  • Carth Onasi is also a biotic.
  • And a total weaselly bastard on Star Trek: Voyager.
  • AND a certain archaeologist the Gaang runs into in the Earth Kingdom.
  • AND a Republic clone, Delta-62, "Scorch." Guess what his specialty is...
  • This troper referred to the character as "Carth" while playing Mass Effect because she couldn't remember the character's name but knew she recognized that voice.
  • This troper did a double-take when he saw a network-run reality show where an actor would pretend to be racist against an actress to see people's reactions. Playing the part of "racist Dunkin' Donuts (TM) counter man" was none other than Carth Onasi.

  • It's really bad when Shep's Biote and the Ebon Hawk pilot are the sanest things the dude seems to have played. This Troper was doing her homework and not paying attention to the tube. Queue the episode of Journeyman where he's playing a deranged and probably developmentally disabled mass murderer. The instant "I'll blow your head off" came out of the guy's mouth, there went my homework. Likewise, just TRY watching the Cold Case episode "Thrill Kill" where he's also playing someone clearly deranged without a few inappropriate snickers.
  • While unconfirmed, if it was not him voicing the 2010 Disney Vacations DVD, it was someone who sounded remarkably like him.

• Sean Schemmel
  • This troper couldn't place who voiced Lucario in Pokémon: Lucario and The Mystery of Mew until near the end when he lends his aura to Mew, where his yell sounds vaguely familiar..."Holy crap, it's GOKU!"
  • He also reprises his role as Lucario in Super Smash Bros Brawl, making it obligatory to shout "Kame-hame-HA!" whenever the player executes a Final Smash.
    • Sadly, we all wish that was the case. Lucario's VA in Brawl and the main anime is Bill Rogers, current voice of Brock.
    • Sean also voiced Onsokumaru in the english dub of Ninin ga Shinobuden. And does a surprisingly good job, considering that he has to fill the shoes of Norio Wakamoto.

• Dwight Schultz
  • Watching Dr. Animo's first scene, your contributor was partially expecting him to mention a recipe for some really weird food.
  • He's also: the Gran Kiltias Anastasis (FFXII), Hakunin (Fallout 2) and Maechen / O'aka / Maester Mika (FFX).
  • For those in the 80s, he's also Howling Mad Murdock!

• Ted Schwartz
  • Thrasher on the 80's G.I. Joe, but best known as the voice of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in his own solo, hardly-seen syndie show, the pre-cursor to Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. On an episode of Alice, Mel, dressed in a hero costume for a party, accidentally thwarts a bank robber played by Schwartz. You didn't even have to guess.

• David Scully
  • David Scully will forever be known as Sergeant Avery Johnson.

• Tomokazu Seki
  • This troper half expected Gilgamesh to start advertising some Comiket/anime goods to Shirou.
    • Or maybe Kyo Sohma to do that.
  • When watching Harukanaru Toki no Naka de, this troper could have sworn that the scene of Yorihisa teaching Tenma how to use a sword had the audio ripped straight from Escaflowne.

• Patrick Seitz
  • Transformers: War for Cybertron: guest-starring Silverbolt The Bloodedge.

• Rod Serling
  • Not only did he write and narrate the openings and closings of every episode of The Twilight Zone, he also narrated the opening of Phantom of the Paradise. So, even if you think that he can't act or write, he can introduce the HELL out of stuff.
    • Also narrated The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.

• Jeremy Shada
  • Watching Adventure Time after playing FEAR3 can be a little eerie, due to the fact that the voice actor for Finn also played the child version of Paxton Fettel.

• Martin Sheen
  • Maybe the reason a lot of players trusted The Illusive Man so much is because he was once President of the United States.

• Stephanie Sheh
  • This troper swears that Stephanie Sheh's voice for Orihime Inoue is just her Hinata Hyuga voice with an attempt to sound three years older.
    • Even though they sound almost identical, this troper only just realized Orihime Inoue is also Isane Kotetsu
  • And her voice for Mikuru is her Orihime voice, except about five times more timid. (According to maths, this means Mikuru Voice = ((Hinata Voice) + (3(older)))/(5(timid)). )
    • While Future Mikuru sounds like a more confident Orihime.
  • Reading that Stephanie Sheh does the voice for both Hinata and Naruto's Sexy Jutsu was rather amusing
    • She also voiced Kin.
  • The fact that she voices Kyrie is also amusing, since it means her love interest is Ichigo.
  • What is just freaking weird is any scene in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, where Mikuru is being inappropriately touched by Haruhi, so any of them. It sounds for all the world like Hinata is being molested by Tatsuki from Bleach.
  • Stephanie Sheh sounds quite similar in her voice acting for Dub!Orihime in Bleach and Dub!Hinata in Naruto, and the similarity is especially noticeable in that Orihime and post-timeskip Hinata have similar appearances, both struggle with issues of self-confidence, and both are in love with the main character of their respective series.
  • Oddly enough, on my first viewing of Haruhi Suzumiya, this led to an inversion of the trope. I heard Mikuru speak and went "Holy crap, it's Tsukasa! Just a bit more timid." While Tsukasa's VA is in Haruhi Suzumiya, she voices Yuki. Stephanie Sheh actually has a major part in Lucky Star - as Akira Kogami (!). (Who, come to think of it, sounds like Mikuru being really, really cutesy. But only when being kawaii. Her Grumpy Bear personality sounds nothing like her.)
  • She clearly uses her Mamimi voice for Anya.
  • This troper was astounded at how well she played Eureka Seven. Even though it was her Mikuru voice.
  • Even though she is credited differently there is no doubt she is Illyasviel.

• Kelly Sheridan
  • You know what's wild? Sango is almost every Barbie you could see in a movie.
  • Sango's also Wanda Maximoff. And Inuyasha is her brother, Pietro. Miroku? He's Cyclops. Kagome is Nightcrawler's girlfriend, Amanda Sefton. Sesshomaru is even Professor X. Both shows were so much more fun after realizing this.
  • She was also one of the 12 little girls in two straight lines. Try to digest that, and then digest the fact that she's Barbie. Your head will explode!

• Armin Shimerman
  • Subverted in Bioshock: Until looking it up on IMDb, this troper had absolutely no clue that Andrew Ryan was, in fact, Quark.
  • And in Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal and the following games, he plays (Captain) Quark's nemesis, Dr. Nefarious!
  • And he's also been both an emperor and the abbot who got in his way.
  • And while he may not have been as annoying as his turian counterpart, the salarian councillor was still a credit to obstructive bureaucrats everywhere.
    • He was also Fai Dan. So stop asking him why the colonists of Zhu's Hope are so weird!!!
  • He also played a Nox in Stargate SG-1's first season. Although both his Quark role and this one are live-action, they are both aliens with elaborate costumes and makeup, and so he is rather hard to recognize (although it's possible if you know who he is).
  • He was also one of the longest surviving deans of Sunnyvale High. And then he was eaten by a snake demon.

• Kaori Shimizu
  • On Kaori Shimizu, when this troper watches Shinkon Gattai Godannar, she plays as the Loli Lou Roux, which obviously had her using her loli-ish voice (as shown in Serial Experiments Lain). Except when she starts her battle Kiai... whereas this troper suddenly get vibes that either Signum or Lamia possessed her and gives her some hot blood elements (of course, at that time, The Hero Goh was also doing his own Kiai, so it might not sound so obvious). Then again, that seiyuu also has Hiyori Tamura in her resume, and she sounded NOTHING like any of these mentioned roles.
  • This troper was also puzzled by the casting of Ms. Shimizu as Hiyori, even though she rose to the occasion admirably. A little research shows that she also played Motoko in Fruits Basket and Keiko in Genshiken, which goes a long way towards explaining it.
  • Then, taken on full throttle in Mugen no Frontier. Aschen seems to be a normal Genki Girl... but when she uses a certain move in her Genki mode... This Troper is pretty sure Shimizu Kaori uses the exact SAME voice she uses for Hiyori.
  • Again on Nanoha-related connections, when Signum came in, this troper thought, "I think I recall this tone of voice..." until he is reminded about Lamia Loveless from Super Robot Wars. But then, the VA uses a slightly softer tone so both the voices of Signum and Lamia are a bit distinct, while quite familiar (except when she is doing a battle cry, whereas the similarity with Lamia's voice become more obvious). But then, when Signum pulls out Sturm Falke, it was then this troper finally realized that she is one magnificent Expy of Lamia. And to add this Expying business further, as the series enters the third season, it looks like the seiyuu, Kaori Shimizu, uses exactly Lamia's voice tone (which is actually her current standard voice) as Signum's voice. Whether this means it's Executive Meddling to make the Expy-ness look more obvious, or it's a flaw in her voice-acting, this troper doesn't know.

• Hiro Shimono
  • Hiro Shimono who does voices for guys with scarves (ie. Ash and Almaz) as well as Cute Shotaro Boys with horns. Kinda funny that he shares his recent video games voices (Almaz and Emil) with a certain former Black Ranger.

• Ryoko Shiraishi
  • When one plays the Clannad Visual Novel, it might be shocking to discover that Kappei is having a hard time performing menial tasks, knowing that he shares the same seiyuu with Hayate Ayasaki.
  • Apparently, Hayate can play mahjong too.
  • Also, Hayate's a ninja, de gozaru.

• Mark Silk
  • While playing Overlord was quite shocked to hear the good side from Black and White telling how it's good to be evil.
  • Marc Silk has also done voices in Battalion Wars and Medi Evil 2.

  • When you hear Dana Snyder as Gazpacho, The Alchemist, Todd, or Mr. Baldwin, you'll be thinking of Master Shake the entire time, largely because they all have a tendency for awkward pauses and overly dramatic deceleration indicating they're all a little out of it.
    • Word of God confirmed that Snyder was encouraged to "Shake it up" when reading the Alchemist's lines.
  • Also Leonard the koala in one episode of The Penguins of Madagascar.
  • He's also the chain smoking mission control engineer from Saul of the Molemen.

• Kevin Sorbo
  • Provides the voice for Prometheus, the player's Voice with an Internet Connection, in The Conduit.

• Kath Soucie
  • In Transformers Animated, the minor supervillain Professor Princess sounds like an even more grating version of Lil from Rugrats.
  • I don't care how she tries to disguise it, either with a Russian accent (as in Captain Planet and the Planeteers) or a British accent (as in The Replacements or Dial M For Monkey), I know Kath Soucie's voice ANYWHERE. Okay, it is a little bit difficult to tell Phil and Lil from Nerissa...
  • Did you know that she was Lola Bunny? Or Mara Jade? Or the Rebel comms officer? Or Lonna Vash? [[Dark Forces Saga Or Tavion? After her Star Wars roles I can never watch Captain Planet and the Planeteers or Space Jam without thinking of the witches she played.
    • And she played another bitch in Dragon Age Origins in the form of Marjolaine.
  • She's both Jetta Hanover from Clifford the Big Red Dog and Daffodil from Clifford's Puppy Days. In both case, she was a b...witch as well. Go figure.
    • And oh, she has been the voice of Kanga in the Winnie the Pooh franchise since the 80s.
    • Oddly enough, she voiced Shock, and Sally (in Oogie's Revenge, and Kingdom Hearts), and reprised THOSE roles in Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, but not Kanga.
  • She's also Cooke in Lost Odyssey. This troper shat bricks when he finally manage to recognize (read: looked up on Wikipedia) Phil and Lil's voice after so many years.
    • She's also Cubert in Futurama, Amanda Evert in Tomb Raider, Kar-in in the remake of Lost Vikings 2...she's been around.
  • Although Linka and the twins sound almost identical once you get past the Russian accent.
  • Hearing Phil's voice when you meet Emperor Griffon either makes him that much scarier, or adds a lot of Narm.
    • It certainly made an episode of Nightmare Ned creepier, especially since it's another set of twins.
  • She'll always be Princess Sally (and her PDA, Nicole) to this troper.
  • She also played Fifi La Fume and Sneezer in Tiny Toon Adventures.
  • Who could forget Lita Halford in Brutal Legend?

• Yoko Soumi
  • After watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and the Hellsing OVAs on the one day, this troper was rather disturbed to realise that Olivier Mira Armstrong was Zorin Blitz.

• Spike Spencer
  • Imagine the surprise when watching Code Geass R2 on the Adult Swim website, when Rolo had the voice of Shinji come out of his mouth.
  • It's kind of distracting since when he's introduced Lelouch sounded like Renton (as opposed to his usual, mostly adult sounding voice) when he's introduced, and since Rolo sounds like Shinji it makes Lelouch sound younger than him.
    • I was more surprised to hear murderous tykebomb Yandere Rolo sharing a voice with Hanataro Yamada, of all people.
      • Spike...and half of Evangelion's cast, are in Gunsmith Cats.
      • This troper always hears Hanataro Yamada and Dr. Shiouji as Tenkawa Akito.
  • I SWEAR he voiced Milanor in Yggdra Union. The character may be more butch than Spike's standard fare, but just listen to him when he's yelling. I'd recognize that scream anywhere.
  • Spike seems to be all about the mechas: first, Evangelion, then Code Geass R2, and now Steambot Chronicles.
  • Recently played a Saburo Togusa of Durarara, a character that actually doesn't sound like Shinji for once. Oh, also Papillon
  • What? No mention of Arakune??? You failed me Internet.
  • He opted out of mechas and turned to cyborgs in the Battle Angel OVA of the Battle Angel Alita franchise. He played Yugo/Hugo, a maintenance worker for Dr. Ido.

• Steve Staley
  • Steve Staley tends to do similar roles as young, arrogant men. Some of his more notable roles are Neji Hyuuga from Naruto, Kadaj from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, Toshiro Hitsugaya from Bleach, Kamui from X 1999, and Kouji Minamoto from Digimon Frontier.

• Ben Stein
  • Ben Stein is well-known for his dull, drab monotone voice. So dull, in fact, that it's interesting, bringing mathematical paradox to mind. Among the roles in which he's alternately amused the audience/bored them to tears:
  • On Duckman, Stein plays Duckman's psychiatrist neighbor, who just happens to be named...Ben Stein.
  • On Animaniacs, Stein tormented the Warners as Francis "Pip" Pumphandle, a man prone to telling very long, very dull anecdotes in a monotone voice while following the Warners everywhere, no matter where they tried to run.
  • On The Fairly Odd Parents, Stein voiced the incredibly dull and boring Pixies, a race of Obstructive Bureaucrats who wanted to make Fairy World as drab and lifeless as they were.
  • Stein also counts as Hey, It's That Guy!, having played an incredibly boring teacher/authority figure in productions such as Ferris Buellers Day Off, The Wonder Years, and the film adaptation of Richie Rich that starred Macaulay Culkin. Stein is also the only person who could appear on Married... with Children dressed in a chicken suit and still be able to publish serious books and articles in financial and political journals.
  • He plays an elf tour guide in the CG special Santa vs the Snowman, giving the North Pole tour the excitement it merits.

• Patrick Stewart
  • In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, you're pretty much sent on a world-saving quest by Captain Picard! Or as Morgan Webb put it, "When Picard says 'Quest!', I say 'How long?'"
  • Stewart also narrates, and sends you on a quest, in the Forgotten Realms console game Demon Stone.
  • Then again, Stewart does such a good job as the Emperor that it's actually easy to forget that it's him.
    • Stewart's stint in that role makes for an interesting case of Fridge Logic when one realizes the Emperor looked more like Patrick Stewart when he wasn't played by Patrick Stewart.
  • He also reprises the role of Professor X in a number of games.
  • He makes an interesting Great Prince of the Forest in Bambi II.
  • He also does commercials now such as one for Goodyear tires, and narrates the occasional documentary.
  • He did two Anime dubs: Lord Yupa in Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Grandfather in Steamboy.
  • And let's not forget his regular role as Bullock in American Dad.

• David Ogden Stiers
  • When this troper got into MASH in her early teens, it didn't take her too long to figure out Maj. Winchester (that is, David Ogden Stiers) was actually Cogsworth from Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Gov. Ratcliffe (and Wiggins) in Pocahontas.
  • Not only was he Ratcliffe and Cogsworth, but he was also the Archdeacon, Dr. Jumba, and Fenton Q. Harcourt
  • He was also Kamaji in Spirited Away and Piccolo in Porco Rosso.
  • He was also planning on conquering the Spine of the World for a while...

• Sonny Strait
  • Speaking of One Piece and Dragon Ball, Sonny Strait uses a very similar voice for Usopp as he did for Krillin. Reruns of Dragonball Z were aired right after new episode of One Piece, so it's very easy to compare.
  • Surefire way to realize who did Misuzu in Ouran High School Host Club? Listen to Maes Hughes squeeing over his wife and daughter.
  • Compare Ragnarok with Appachai. The only difference is the accent.

• Chantal Strand
  • Let's see. The titular character in Madeline: My Fair Madeline, Cassie in Dragon Tales, Bijou in Hamtaro, and a skittle in Make Way For Noddy.

  • Hearing Miyuki's voice come out of Sonou Mori was interesting. Hearing her voice come out of Miyo Takano? Less so.
  • I fully expected Kallen Kouzuki to start speaking french. I blame Fantine Valjean.
  • Aigis, meet Izanami meet "Maggie" Saika meet... damn near every female character 'cept Skylar in The Saboteur.

  • That scene was an exact parallel/parody of the scene in Fate/stay night before Berserker dies.
  • This editor was half expecting to hear the priest say that everything in the dungeoun belongs to him.

• Brad Swaile
  • Light has the same voice of Quatre of Gundam Wing. Oh, Quatre...(not to mention that insane follower Mikami's dub voice is Trowa; in the original Japanese, he's the Ohtori Kyouya to Light's Tamaki.)
  • Not really surprising, considering that Brad Swaile's done several notable Gundam characters, including the protagonist of the original series. And yet again, he's been tapped for more Gundam - he's the VA for Setsuna in the English dub of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 as well...

• Tomokazu Sugita
  • Given the popularity of both shows on this wiki, This Troper is honestly astonished that no one else pointed out that StrikerS! Chrono is also Kyon before he did.
  • What makes it more funny is that Inspector Acous is also Itsuki. That scene where they are eating cake together never fails to make me laugh.
  • And then there's that extremely obvious Shout-Out in Kanon 2006...
    • This troper had a fangasm when she watched the opening moments of Shuffle and heard Mikuru's voice come out of Kaede's mouth. Then she literally exploded when she heard Kyon's voice come out of Rin's.
  • Also, Kyon is Gintoki. Yup - a Deadpan Snarker Ordinary High School Student sharing the same voice acting as a Sweet Tooth Jump-loving Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass.
  • And now we have Ronove, whose relationship with Battler completely reverse the dynamic shared by Kyon and Koizumi.
  • And he's got white hair, an...interesting sword and gets into comical fights over food with a weird being who has no concept of proper behavior. It's not Gintoki it's Ragna the Blood Edge!

• Noriaki Sugiyama
  • This troper had to go look up a clip of Hector's voice in Japanese, because she read that he had the same voice actor as Shirou. They sound very similar. They act absolutely nothing alike.
  • He also voices Uryu Ishida and Sasuke Uchiha, which sound remarkably alike.
    • This makes it funnier when you realize that he also voices William T. Spears, a work-a-holic Shinigami in Black Butler.
  • You're forgetting England!
  • Here's another offer: Stinky Peterson, Bloo, and even Buford.

• Nicole Sullivan
  • Nicole Sullivan provides the voice for Shego from Kim Possible and Franny Robinson from Meet the Robinsons. Needless to say, this troper kept expecting Franny's hands to start glowing green at any moment.
  • Franny's younger self is voiced by Jessie Flower, who also voices Toph on Avatar: The Last Airbender. Young Franny's threats of using her martial arts skills suddenly make more sense.
  • She also does Louise in Slacker Cats and Joan of Arc in Clone High.
  • This troper can't really hear Shego and not think "You know what? Nuh uh!".
  • Don't forget Sullivan's role as Mira Nova on Buzz Lightyear of Star Command... something that this troper had forgotten she'd even seen until watching Meet the Robinsons.
  • You'd think Zack Saturday would behave better, knowing that Mom not only has a Flaming Sword, but those glowing green hands...not to mention that she was tough enough to take on Jerry Stiller as a dog-walking client. Not the dog owner, but as someone to be walked.

• Cree Summer
  • Susie Carmichael, Aka Pella, Foxxy Love, Numbuh 5, Valerie Gray, Princess Kida, Hyena... you know this voice.
  • Let's not forget a girl who could be an older and evil version of Susie Carmichael, if not her older and evil cousin. Miranda. (Fun fact: Miranda was actually retconned as black because of her actress)
  • Whoa. She also played Penny in Inspector Gadget. And Elmyra in Tiny Toon Adventures. No wonder I recognized that voice...
  • Also Maxine Gibson. Terrifingly, she also plays Mercy Graves in Superman: Doomsday, there was nothing more shocking for this trooper than to see the sexy if heartless bodyguard open her mouth... and hear Maxine Gibson speaking to Lex Luthor.
  • And apparently, even the Care Bears needed her help. She's the voice of Kim in the first movie and Christy in the second movie. She's certainly done a lot of stuff.
  • In Transformers Animated, she is Blackarachnia.
  • Believe it or not, she was Kitana in the Animated Adaptation Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm.

  • While watching Clannad, one might mutter "White Devil? Is that you?" upon hearing Mei speak. Both characters were voiced by Yukari Tamura. This troper wonders if the Fan Sub's usage of "Speak of the devil" to refer to Mei in one scene was intentional or not.
  • Subverted Trope in that Mei Sunohara sounds nothing at all like Mai Kawasumi.
  • And then it goes around full circle when Yukari Tamura voices Rika Furude, whose regular cutesy voice sounds almost exactly like Mei, and her serious voice sounds almost exactly like Mai.
  • Now that deep voice sticks to her when she's voicing Frederica Bernkastel.

  • This Troper doubts she'll ever be able to watch Black Cat again without expecting Echidna to start Beam Spamming up the place and calling Creed "Souichirou-sama".

  • Mayumi Tanaka is known primarily for playing the role of various young males in shonen anime. Hearing her play possible female romance interest Kanna Kirishima in Sakura Taisen using a voice similar to plucky male hero Monkey D. Luffy is really, really weird.

  • Recently, she's the voice of the floor announcer for One Versus a Hundred. Having Cortana ask you what the Daikatana ads said John Romero was going to make us was a priceless moment for me.
  • Being an announcer isn't new for her. She was also the voice of Sunny Day in the Backyard Sports series before the entire voice cast changed.

• Veronica Taylor
  • Gracie Lizzie had no interest in Dinosaur King when she first heard it. Then she caught a few seconds of the dub and did a double take when she recognized Ash from Pokémon 's voice in Max's body. That is, Veronica Taylor. The show now makes Gracie Lizzie smile for the nostalgia kick (as Veronica Taylor and the rest of the Pokémon got a case of The Other Darrin forced on them and because Gracie Lizzie hasn't watched Pokémon in ages).

  • Don't forget about Bill Thompson! He's the voice of Smee, The White Rabbit and Mr. Dodo, King Hubert, five different parts in Lady and the Tramp (including Jock the Scottish Terrier), Ranger Woodlore from the Humphrey the Bear series, and he even got the honor of playing Scrooge McDuck in the featurette Scrooge McDuck and Money before Alan Young came along. As for a non Disney example, Bill Thompson is also Droopy Dog and Spike/Butch!

  • Two Words: Kirk. Thornton. This troper has just gotten into the Gungrave anime (where he is the dubbed voice of Brandon Heat/Beyond the Grave). All I could think was....Roland? JIN??? Is that you?
  • Kisame Hoshigaki? Yeah, he's Don Patch. When this troper mentioned this at GameFAQs, they couldn't believe it.
  • This troper had a nerdgasm when he realized Jade Curtiss was AWACS Thunderhead.

  • A VA whose most famous work is one of the Eds on Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy. This Troper was seriously disturbed to find out Tieria Erde and Athrun Zala were done by the same guy as Double D.

    • Dexter sounds much closer to Double D.
  • And Finn used to pull pranks with Aerrow, too.
  • Sideswipe in Transformers Armada, and Wing Saber in Energon.
  • When Sonic Underground's not busy speaking, he's most likely gonna sound like Double-D when singing.

• Kari Wahlgren
  • Kagami is also Tsuruya? Wa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!
    • Retroactive Recognition: Tsuruya's "Hey it's Kyon and his buddies!" line in episode 12 sounds a bit like Kagami.
    • Kari also voices Shellsea and the unnamed snake (in The Stinger) on Fish Hooks.
  • Also played a mail carrier named Lavie, a mecha pilot named Anemone, and a witch hunter named Robin.
  • And a Chiropteran Queen.

• Norio Wakamoto
  • If you watch any anime featuring a powerful, Magnificent Bastard-style villain, or Ax Crazy maniac bad guy, chances are quite high that they will be voiced by a certain Norio Wakamoto. He has voiced many villains in his time, ranging from Cell of Dragon Ball to M. Bison of Street Fighter fame, Black Shadow in the F-Zero anime, Emperor Charles Di Britannia from Code Geass and Igniz, the final boss of King Of Fighters 2001 (and at one point, Rugal). this troper was surprised to face Rugal in KOF 2002 and suddenly blurt out "You mean this time he's voiced by CELL?!"
  • Norio has also voiced a select few number of good guys as well, from Lando Calrissian in the Japanese dub of Star Wars to Shuren in Fist of the North Star.
  • Not really good or evil, but he has also voiced a cat and a wooden cube, I kid you not. Heavy dramatic voice and all.
  • Strangely enough he's also voiced both Dracula and Alexander Anderson.
  • While playing Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny, this troper couldn't quite figure out why the Big Bad Golba sounded so familiar...until he realized that he was expecting Golba to turn into a certain perverted yellow sphere...
  • When he isn't voicing great villains like Megatron, he's going all out with the Ham as hilarious characters like Victoreem-sama.

• Hynden Walch
  • Someone pointed out in the Moe page that Hynden Walch, who voiced Yutaka in Lucky Star, also voiced Starfire in Teen Titans, only in a much higher pitch. Just look at about 2:35 in on this...
  • Nia (pre-Time Skip) = Starfire (she even talks similarly). It actually works pretty well. Though after the Time Skip she has an entirely different VA.
  • Don't forget Princess Bubblegum!
  • Princess Bubblegum and Penny Sanchez sound... exactly the same. Both hail from shows from Frederator, both hail from shows starting out cartoon shorts shows, and both are (insufferable) genius female inventors. It took watching both on DVR back to back for me to figure out that they sound exactly alike.
  • Let's just say that Moe is Walch's main forte.
  • Not all of her roles are Moe though. Case in point: Harley Quinn, Breach, Blackfire, and Madame Rouge.

  • Wholesome mom Fran on Dinosaurs was voiced by Jessica Walter, who became not-so-wholesome mom Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development.

• Patrick Warburton
  • If you need a badass, he's your guy. Joe in Family Guy, Brock Samson in The Venture Bros, The Tick (animation), and the animated series version of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, to name a few.

  • He is also your friendly chief flight attendant in the safety video on the Soarin' over California attractions at Disney's California Adventure Park and Epcot.

  • It was a shock to the system to realise Jon Irenicus is actually Chancellor Gorkon.
  • On the other hand, Irenicus is a nice match for Ra's Al-Ghul.

• Billie Lou Watt
  • In the animation department, she played Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion, Jimmy Sparks, and her final role has her Playing Against Type as Eustace's Mother.

• Richard Waugh
  • Albert Wesker in Resident Evil Code Veronica, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 4.

• David Wenham
  • The Spike TV series Deadliest Warrior is narrated by none other than David Wenham. The same David Wenham who played the narrator Dilios in 300. Yeah...

• Frank Welker
  • Even versatile voice actors can have this happen when they voice a lot of characters. The prolific Frank Welker is, among other roles, recognizable as Soundwave in Transformers, Darkseid in the two "Super Powers" series of Superfriends, Freddy in Scooby Doo and Dr. Claw in Inspector Gadget.
  • The G1 Transformers episode "Roll For It" has a scene where Soundwave's "Excellent, Ravage!" line didn't get processed, so it sounds exactly like Dr. Claw.
    • And neither was it for the entirety of Revenge Of The Fallen, meaning he was pretty much Dr. Claw on a satellite. It's pretty damn effective though.
  • The above tropers have a talent for understatement. Frank Welker is arguably the most prolific voice actor of all times (over 90 movies, not counting TV shows). Known especially for his critter voices. Welker is listed as the number one "All Time Top 100 Stars at the Box office," not as a box office draw, but in terms of the total revenue the over 90 films he has participated in have generated. Slimer, Abu, Scooby Doo, G1 Megatron, Rumble/Frenzy, Scooter, Lord Nibbler (both his squeaking and talking versions), and Goddard are just some of the voices he's done. Odds are, if you've watched a cartoon in the last 40 years, you've sampled his work.
  • When the "critter" role on Gargoyles was being cast, another actor who was auditioning for the part said, "I'll just hold the script until Frank gets here."
  • And he was suggested as a cameo in the first live action Scooby Doo film, but the casting people didn't see the point, since they didn't have a clue who he actually was... Of course, when someone was needed for the creature noises, the first and only person the effects people went to was... Frank Welker!
  • You know you've watched way too many cartoons when you find yourself being able to recognize Welker by his animal sounds.
  • And speaking of Galvatron and Spock, there is one other man who has played both characters: the ever ubiquitous Frank Welker.
  • He was Totoro in the redub of My Neighbor Totoro (duh!) as well as the Cat Bus. Plus, he has a role in Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
  • Some more obscure roles include Father Time and Fatch in Histeria! and Meat in The Schnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show.
  • In one of his most obscure roles ever, he played a demonic banana in DuckTales, who has Megatron's voice. That's right: Megatron as a killer banana.

  • This Troper noticed immediately when watching Futurama for the first time that Fry's voice sounded exactly like Doug Funnie's did (the original Doug, not the newer series).
  • As a kid, this troper couldn't get over the fact that Ren and Stimpy were the same person (see above).
    • In the post-Spumco era, that is.
  • Detention's Emmitt Roswell sounds a lot like Phillip J. Fry.
  • Dr. Zoidberg's voice was lent to a Stegosaurus in the Histeria! episode "The Dawn of Time".
  • Red M&M, the current Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd and Porky Pig and Woody Woodpecker, some incarnates of Stitch and Rayman, Professor Farnsworth, Zapp Brannigan, Lars Fillmore, Leo Wong, Richard Nixon's head (during two commentaries he uses Nixon's voice to say "Rubber baby buggy bumpers,") know him?
  • Only two episodes, but no one else will do as Skeets. "My God, it was full of stars!"
  • He also played Skeets in Batman the Brave And The Bold.
  • I cracked up after hearing Ellyvan during an episode of Jungle Junction since all that was missing was a Fry style wisecrack thanks to who knows how many Futurama epsiodes.
  • Philip J. Fry is the Red M&M!

• Jaleel White

Sonic: Everything about you but yer rhymes are fat. *crash* Did I do that?

• • Not to mention that in Sonic Underground he did the speaking voices of all three hedgehog siblings (yes, he voiced Sonia), while their singing voices were given by different actors.

• Mae Whitman
  • Mae Whitman voiced Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender and Rose from American Dragon Jake Long.
  • What would Katara have done if she had seen the dragons in Avatar?
    • This troper kept secretly hoping that Tinkerbell would start waterbending.
      • Nah, that's Silvermist's job.
  • Once he read the cast list, this troper always pictured Ann Veal reciting Avatar's opening narration.
    • Her?
  • And long before Ann Veal, she was the president's kid in Independence Day.
  • And Lil Suzy.

• Fred Willard
  • This troper couldn't help but notice how much Swindle sounded like the Boogie Man.
  • But its pretty easy to notice how Shelby Forthright, BnL CEO and Boogie sound the same.

• Kent Williams
  • It's rather funny when you realize that Charden, the most noble of the villains in Black Cat is voiced by the guy that also voices the Big Bad of Fullmetal Alchemist, Father.

• Robin Williams
  • As great as Williams is at improvising, it's pretty easy to notice that Genie, Fender, Batty, and the mad scientist from The Timekeeper all sound the same.

• Travis Willingham
  • After hearing him as Roy Mustang, Travis Willingham is very easy to spot as Darlton on Code Geass.
  • Not much of a difference with Portgaz D. Ace either.
  • Speaking of Travis Willingham, after realizing he was Roy Mustang, this troper couldn't take Takashi from Ouran High School Host Club seriously anymore, couldn't stop picturing Takashi suddenly shouting to the club "TINY MINISKIRTS!!".
    • That said, hearing Roy Mustang's voice angsting about cavities killed this troper with the hilarity.
  • Would you expect Ragna the Bloodedge to say something like that? No? Of course not.
    • Except that's not Travis Willingham, it's Patrick Seitz.
  • This Troper laughed his ass off when he heard a modified version of Roy Mustang's voice coming out of Ace's FUNimation-dubbed mouth.
  • TRAVIS SMASH!!
  • It really doesn't help that he plays a similar character on Ghost Hunt (well, similar to Roy Mustang), and he does it opposite of Colleen Clinkenbeard. Oh dear.
  • Hearing Roy Mustang's voice coming out of Kanda's mouth in the dub version of D.Gray-man was the funniest thing this troper had heard in a while.
  • Diagnostician Gabriel Cunningham's voice was eerily familiar to This Troper when she was watching Fullmetal Alchemist's Roy Mustang. You don't need a beaker to make scrambled eggs, Gabe - use alchemy.

• Thomas F. Wilson
  • You keep expecting Matt Bluestone to call someone a butt head.
    • That was about the only thing that Maniac didn't call his long-time rival, Luke Skywalker.
  • Biff shows up as Flats the Flounder in an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. Both have the compulsion to spout "butt" a lot.

• Paul Winchell
  • One of the most iconic villain voices of all time. Did anyone ever wonder if Dick Dastardly and Gargamel were related?
  • And yet he was also Tigger.
  • Who would've thunk that it would be Tigger who invented the artificial heart?

• Mark Wing-Davey
  • Zaphod Beeblebrox as Judge Ghis in Final Fantasy XII.

• Dave Wittenberg
  • Considering how many well-known roles Dave Wittenburg is, the fact that he wasn't already mentioned surprises me...but considering that some of his roles are drastically different sounding than each other...Not everyone can make the link.
  • Kefka sounds an awful lot like Teddie for a few moments, doesn't he?
  • Heeeeey...he's a narrator on I didn't know I was pregnant and Mystery ER.
  • He also does the English narration for Ninja Warrior. It makes sense.
  • Wait a sec, you mean Kakashi is HENRI?!
  • All twelve of us who played Persona 2: Eternal Punishment will also hear that Katsuya sounds a lot like a Grown-up Henri.
  • The Trailmon and EmperorGreymon are also secretly related to Yazoo.
  • Upchuck is secretly Jiro in disguise.
  • Commander Irving Vold Valeria on Wild Arms Twilight Venom sounds like a Smug Snake!Kaoru Hanabishi. Talk about your differing personalities. Wittenberg joins another AYA alum on this series; See Michelle Ruff's entry.
  • Take one look at Dave Wittenberg's Wikipedia page and see how many roles he plays you actually recognize as him before reading it. I dare you. This troper somehow didn't even make the connection between Henri and Katsuya before he read it up.
  • This troper started laughing once he figured out that Cliff Fittir was Kakashi, Allen, and Henry.
    • You're telling me that Allen is the distant descendant of Sunnyside?
  • He also played a nameless extra of a scientist who talked to Alex Mercer during one of the Web Of Intrigue segments (specifically, the one where the real Alex mentions that he wasn't paid to feel) -- I was wondering what Kakashi was doing working in the Big Applesauce. I checked the very long credits list to be sure. He's actually not listed for that one.

• James Woods
  • CJ has to jump on board a plane and kill everyone while it's taking off? Why should he? Oh, Hades told him to. OK then.
  • Also, it's creepy hearing James Woods in Hercules after watching Videodrome. For that matter, anything is creepy after watching Videodrome!
  • It's hard to imagine Hades working as a prosecution lawyer.
  • I KNOW!!!

• Tom Wyner
  • Apparently {{[[[Ghost In The Shell Anime]] the Puppet Master}} is secretly the Minister of Home Affairs!!

• Koichi Yamadera
  • Koichi Yamadera, better known as Spike Spiegel, Ryoga Hibiki, Togusa, Ryoji Kaji, and Gyunei Guss.
  • Would you also believe he lends his voice to both Boxer (Barlog/M.Bison) and Donald Duck? Yeah. Me neither.

• Mayumi Yamaguchi
  • This troper finds it hard to imagine anyone played by Mayumi Yamaguchi (Lee Jenrya in Digimon Tamers, Forte from Galaxy Angel, for example) as anyone but Envy from Fullmetal Alchemist. It can be kind of jarring at times.

• Hiroki Yasumoto
  • Asura is a Family man and Evil Spirit fighting mexican.

• Hiroyuki Yoshino
  • Allelujah Haptism, for starters.
  • Also the voice of Hibiki Tokai, who despite his upbringing had better luck with the ladies than Brief.

• Keone Young
  • Lao Tsu and Kaz have one thing in common. They are short, old, Asian and voiced by this guy.
  • Along with Dante Basco and Mae Whitman, he is another ADJL alumnus in Avatar: The Last Airbender that makes us wonder "I thought that voice sounds familiar..." (He voiced Jeong Jeong.)

• Satsuki Yukino
  • Mion/Shion, Satsuki Yukino is, beyond everything else Kaname Chidori and Kagome Higurashi.
  • In relation to Shmion, this troper first encountered her as Misae Sagara, so when Shion started to shout "Satoshi-kun," she noticed her inflection and voice sounded a lot like "Shima-kun."

• Ian Ziering
  • Back in the late nineties, this troper watched Beverly Hills, 90210, starring Ian Ziering as Steve Sanders. Fast forward to 2004, and he played Freelancer, starring Ian Ziering as Edison Trent -- this time with an older, deeper voice.
