Batman: Arkham Knight is an action-adventure video game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video game consoles, and Microsoft Windows. Based on the DC Comics superhero Batman, it is the successor to Batman: Arkham Origins, and the fourth main installment in the Batman: Arkham series, following Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City.

Tropes used in Batman: Arkham Knight include:
  • Batman Grabs a Gun: Batman is forced to deploy the Batmobile as a tank with an actual anti-tank gun because he has to fight unmanned drones with lethal weapons. He never had to go that far in the previous games.
  • Big Bad: Scarecrow is the leader between a group of antagonists seeking to kill Batman, including the titular Arkham Knight.
  • Broken Bridge: While technically all of Gotham City is accessible, areas you need to access by vehicle are blocked at points in the plot until you find the way to fix (or rather lower in most cases) the bridges, as the city is divided into three islands and two are blocked off early on.
  • Closed Circle: All of the environments of Gotham City are deliberately closed off to entry or exit, or Scarecrow threatens to Fear Gas everyone inside. This keeps people like Batman and the villains in, and any help from the outside out.
  • Wide Open Sandbox: All of Gotham City is up for exploration in this game.
  • Wild Card: Poison Ivy isn't interested in the Scarecrow's plan to kill Batman but isn't interested in helping humans too.
